Gwendolyn Elliot didn’t grow up how most might think: on a peach farm in a tiny town in Georgia. She was the middle child with an older brother and a younger sister. From a young age, she was attached to her older brother and obsessed with his classic rock and punk CDs. They would ride around town, playing them as loud as they could. He bought Gwen her first guitar when she was 7 - a cheap acoustic to appease their parents who weren’t fans of the edgy music their daughter was being exposed to. Gwen was always a natural when it came to music. Along with the guitar, she picked up the cello, piano, and violin. The electric guitar fell into her hands pretty naturally, and there was no going back.
At 18, her older brother passed from cancer a mere 8 months after his diagnosis. In her grief and the jarring realization that life could be frighteningly short, she moved out and across the country with very little in her pockets and the disapproving comments of her parents. Gwen’s personality allowed her to easily make friends, couch surf, and find a band that needed a guitarist. The members became a second family and they’re starting to see some real success and attention in the music industry.
